Default Chatter Email 1.0b8 Available! LOTS NEW...

Get the update at http://www.chatteremail.com/Downloads/CEUpdate.zip

Get the whole nine yards at http://www.chatteremail.com/Downloads/ChatterEmail.zip

* Lots of SMTP changes. The profile stuff is too complicated, so to make it easier, I've removed the "SMTP Profile" command. At this point, then, Profiles can be edited (and deleted!) within the folders. Use "Edit Mailbox" -> "Other" -> "Edit/Create SMTP Profile".

* Profiles now actually seem to work. In the last rev, the host name wasn't being preserved properly.

* Improved SMTP error messages. When sending fails, the message gets moved to Drafts, for easier re-sending.

* More information about SMTP progress. Instead of "Send", you'll see "Cnct", "Auth", and "Send" (and "SSL" flashing if using SSL)

* There's a new Console command "profile" that gives information about the host, login name, full name, and SSL status that is about to be used. This might provide some reassurance that things are working as expected (at least, I hope)

* Some improvements in display handling

* Nicer highlighting for the contact popup list

* Synchronized "QSync"s. Two or more QSync's that have the same frequency will be run at the same time; this should reduce battery load.

* Draft saving on exit is working again...

* "Save as Draft" is implemented. When you cancel the composition of a message, the option to save in Drafts is presented.

* Changed sort order in folder list to make it entirely alphabetical, except for Inbox at top.

* One Key Commands now work in "Mailbox View" also (need the Preference set in "Chatter Prefs".

* You can set the LED notification to either blinking green, solid red, solid green, or solid orange.

Good job. Best version yet, but can you make some kind of seperator between the chat list names and everything else (inbox, drafts, outbox, sent items, IMbox)? Thx.

Thanks Marc.

Snapper has now been moved to the memory card and once Attachments are added bye bye snapper.

Forget my previous SMTP comments. The way you decided to do this works perfect. Having the option to delete the SMTP profile solved all my issues.

Marc,

What do the "Inbox folders only" and "Subs only" checkboxes do in the Others menu?

It would be nice if you can reply to a message from within the message instead of having to close the message first. Also, it would be nice to make the del, next, previous buttons a little bigger so you can use your finger to click on them.

I would like the ability to delete certain emails from the main chatter screen without having to open them up to deep six it. If there is a way to do this, and I have missed it, thanks in advance for some help on how to accomplish the task.

Excellent, Marc!

This addressed my problem sending e-mail from the 2 different accounts (one requiring SSL, one not).

Thanks!

Marc: Is there any way to simplify entering addresses in the "To:" field? For example, typing part of a name and having Chatter look it up in contacts. I believe the native email app does that?

Thanks,

I THINK you cqn do that by using the space bar to highlight the (each?) message & then you can delete (them?) via the menu. Not sure though.

Try clicking the little icon to the left of the message, see what comes up. I get an option to delete right there.

That doesn't work any more. I was able to do it in a previous version, 1.0b2 i think, but for whatever reason it stoped working. We'll let marc sleep now. I'm sure he'll jump on it when he wakes up. lol

You can reply (or reply all, or forward, or move...) message from "within" the message two ways: menu command or "one key" command (d for delete, for example), the latter only if you've set up the preference in Chatter Prefs.

I just tested what I recommended above. I highlighted about six or eight messages, not all contiguous, went to menu, selected delete selected messages from the message section, and when I returnd to Chatter some time later, all those messages had been deleted. Neat!

On the other hand, the second time I tried such a mass deletion, it got hung up, the phone got kind of warm, to understate it, and several minutes later I came back to it and decided to reset. Instantly all was fixed and the messages were gone. But having to reset makes me worry, because I saw that the green arrows had been on all that time, using up power, I fear.

Marc I have QSync set for every 60mins and it works fine, but noticed that it turns the screen on. Any way to stop that. Also thanks for the nicer highlighting on the contact popup list. Any chance that's coming to the popup list for Reply, Reply All etc.

imageone - Good idea! Can't use "f" for folder...

BTW, screen coming on happens in this version with non-default sorted folders. I'm working on it, but it's something of a Palm issue (believe it or not, Palm's sort routine turns on the screen!!) I'll have some fix by next version, though.

Default Still using 1.0b5

I have not had success with any version after 1.0b5. Each version thereafter seems to have a problem with the notifications and/or syncing. Generally what will happen is either the notification will caise my palm to reset upon hitting a key, or the program will get stuck syncing (it will display a 1 in the upper right hand corner) and the unit will freeze. I thought at first it was a large email or someting, but after resetting it was able to sync the message without an issue. This happened serval times until I finally reverted back to #5... which seems to work great.

Any one else seeing thuis type of behavior?

Could it be conflicting with Treo Butler or Call Filter?

I have a milder form of your problem. I have had great success with each succeeding version and am able to send, receive, and get notifications (though I have all except the LED turned off to save power--might that make a difference?). Nevertheless, I also do have the syncing get stuck on one mesage with the little 1 stuck in the upper right corner. It does not happen all the time, however, I do not think (though I have been off line for most of the day and I know it does not happen then). After I reset most of the succeeding emails seem to come through until another problem arises later on. It would be interesting to know what is causing this for you, for it must be the same for me. I have a feeling Marc will have this fixed soon, especially because it appears more general than just one person.
