Okay!

But, where does data and applications for the old and new user-ids get stored by Palm Desktop on my PC? It looks like everything is in "C:\Program Files\palmOne\ED\Backup" — but nothing is differentiated by user-id. How can I copy all my old memos from my old user-id to my new user-id ? Etc.?

If you couldn't tell from my name, I LOVE LJP. I was actually at the original forum it started at, and had its first iteration, LJZ. Anyways, I'm not going to bother you about the history of why I love it so much, since if you're anything like me, you're Craving for some good ol' nostalgia. Here's what I did: I figured that since there were so many iterations of LJZ, and many of the newer ones just added more systems and functionality, that I could do without those and just return to one of the older ones. I also thought there might also be something with the newer ones that's messing it up for Classic. So that's just what I did. At first, I couldn't decide between the .9 release, or the RC 1.0 release. I went with RC 1.0 (mainly since it had the psi installer).

SO! Install RC 1.0 (I haven't checked what the latest release the maps to buttons is-too busy playing Final Fantasy :P), and play away! The system controls map only to the buttons on screen, and (I think) only when that keyboard has the letters on it. In other words, buttons only map to T,B,D,K (up, down, left, right), the space bar, P,Q, return, and the orange button. I've found that the games play well, but can lag a lot when sound is either on or simulated. I should also note that, at least for me, SNES games still require too much memory to even work, even with UDMH (a program that expands the amount of memory given to an application, such as LJP).

There are still minor issues (lack of full keyboard mapping, lack of memory-although I think that's caused by a lack of memory going to Classic in general, lag when sound is on, having to press down for about a second on the screen before the game recognizes it), but none of those keep it from being playable.

I am a long-time Palm user since my Palm IIIxe and have relied on the Desktop synching to keep important client data intact on 3 different computers, but I hate carrying 2 devices and want to do it all on the Palm Pre — that's why I skipped the iPhone and the Droids to get a Palm — and now I'm having more trouble than I expected.

Has anyone else succeeded in doing anything like this?

How did you do it?

However, we’re here all the time, going through your reports and carefully reading each one of them.

Sorry if this has been covered already. I searched but didn't find anything here or anywhere.

I am trying to replace my Palm Tungsten T5 with Motion Apps Classic running on my Palm Pre. I want to migrate all of my Palm Tungsten T5 applications and data to Motion Apps Classic running on my Pre, actually if I can get these I'll be happy: all of my contacts, all of my memos, Olive Tree Bible Reader, and Secret! Then I won't have to carry 2 devices.

I tried by setting the Classic HotSync ID to the same as my T5, and it seems to synch a lot of stuff, but it always crashes with "HotSync Error: Connection is lost (6410)" which requires a Hard Reset to fix.

Then I tried changing the HotSync ID to a temporary name, which fixed the crash problem, but of course I didn't get any applications or data synchronized.

So, I changed the HotSync ID back to my name and deleted the temporary user from Palm Desktop, but now I'm getting "Duplicate user names are not permitted. The user, '####' already exists on this PC.

a. sometimes the error will not occur
b. if it occurs, just selecting the option to sync/update again will most likely complete the action continuing from where it was stopped previous time, if not from the first attempt, then probably from the next ones


Please let us know:

1. are you experiencing the issue described? +1 will do, we’re trying to work out some statistics
2. what are your results for b. point – did you try to do this more than one time and what were the results?
