Contract is ending, does this mean "New Contract" pricing?

Hello All,

My 2 year contract with Sprint ends on 11/23 and I'm in the market for a Pre. I will be wanting to keep Sprint service and my old number and was wondering if it's possible, despite the fact that I am an existing customer, for me to get the "New Contract" pricing from websites such as Amazon or Wal-mart that currently have Pres for <$100 for "New Customers."

Does the fact that I am getting an entirely new 2 year contract without already being tied down by one allow me to be eligible, or does having a Sprint account currently, regardless of whether or not it's under contract, disqualify me from buying the Pre at these reduced prices?

Pre sending texts 2,3,5,13 times!

I wasn't sure what section to put this under cause it may have to do with the pre, or it may have to do with Sprint service itself.

Some background:

I just got a Palm Pre last night. I upgraded from my BB tour.

At work (allendale, NJ), I spend alot of time roaming on Verizon's Network.

Here's what's happening:

I'm sending texts out on my Pre, and people that are receiving the texts are telling me that they are getting the texts many, many times. They are telling me to stop texting them all together because it it quite annoying. One friend said he recieved a text 13 times. That is unacceptable.

What I'm seeing on my Pre, is a major delay on receiving texts that people send me. Sometimes I get texts that are timestamped "sent at such time" (which was about 30 minutes earlier).

Also, alot of texts that i send out get an error saying 'text could not be sent'. I'm not sure when to resend them or not, b.c sometimes if i just let it be, the recipient will get the text anyway.

Not sure what to do. I really like the Pre a lot, but I cannot have this happen! It didnt happen with the blackberry, but now it happens with the pre. So its def something with the sprint network that the blackberry prevented from happening and the pre is allowing. I could be wrong.

I'll try to post back how the texting situation goes at home, where i get better coverage.

So I went there, I still need to have the phone itself connect via EV-DO from what the rep told me. It isn't working; there's no EV-DO for me right now; I spent all morning driving around to find an EV-DO spot. No go.

So I went to a Sprint Store, they told me the phone was bad. They gave me a new one. So the rep is fiddling with the new Pre and... it won't activate either.

Turns out that due to heavy rains and whatnot over here, two of their towers are down.

I ask them, you know, since the phone can make a call to Customer Service, it works. So can't they activate it manually somehow. Maybe override the thing and use wi-fi, or the USB connection for those purposes. Nope, can't do it.

Wonderful. So I have this shiny, pretty new Pre and I'm without a phone line because the only way it can activate is via EV-DO? I don't know if it's Palm or Sprint at fault here, but whoever makes a device that can connect via Wi-Fi, CDMA, Bluetooth, and USB and only permits activation via the CDMA EV-DO connection is doing something wrong.

As a customer, I don't care if some technical problems leaves me out without web features. I can deal with that. I do care that I can't make nor receive any calls because I have a working phone that can place calls but is simply limited to no data while they fix those towers.

Anyway yea, the Pre looks pretty and the blue background with clouds that I can look at as it tries to activate and the dialing pad I've seen once or twice as I follow CS instructions to reset the device looks pretty sharp too. I also got a Touchstone charger for it which is pretty nifty, though removing the Touchstone cover to get to the battery, verifying if the phone's ID strings matched with the ones on the box was too difficult. Once that cover is in, they certainly don't want you to remove it.

Phone's dying, upgrade weeks away.

Hey guys, I'm new here (been lurking for a bit though) and I've been considering getting a pre when my time comes (December). I'd planned it all out only to have my BB Curve finally start dying - It just won't charge anymore (it did, however, survive two pit bull attacks, so it was pretty tough). Anyway, I'm not due for an upgrade till Dec 1st (and that is with the premier thing) but there's no way I can be without a phone for two weeks, and I really can't see paying a $100 deductible for two weeks worth of phone. What do you think my chances would be of getting them to shave off a couple weeks (if I can come up with the money) so I won't be phoneless?

Bought Sprint phone online... where's the rebate?

I ordered a Touch Pro 2 from Sprint recently, added a line to my account and moved a number from AT&T. My question is, where's the rebate stuff? Does it come with the phone, or can you print it out online?

It's also entirely possible that the papers needed have been misplaced. If so, is there a way to get them back?

Roaming...what sprint doesn't tell you

I'm going to keep this short and to the point so that it might help someone else that's in a similar situation.
I received my most recent bill which was 240 minutes over my monthly 450 minutes. Looking closer at the bill I realized the unlimited calls to any cell promotion was not being honored. In my house I get 1 bar of Sprint service which dropped calls all the time. Thanks to the "Roam Only Toggle" homebrew app by user samkim I leave my phone on roam while at home and thought nothing of it since I was told there are no roaming charges. I spoke to sprint customer service and apparently when you are roaming the unlimited cell to cell promotion is not in effect and therefore will use up your minutes. Thankfully Sprint credited my account the $125.00 extra that I was charged. I had Sprint years ago, then i switched to Verizon and then AT&T and now back to Sprint. They have always given me the best customer experience and for that I will remain a Sprint customer despite poor reception where I live. (I did put in a request to have a tower put in my area).
So just a warning out there to all the fellow Sprint customers, when you are roaming and calling another cell phone it is using your minutes.

Sprint Referral Program

I'm getting alot of people to join the Sprint Network because im getting them to buy a Pre. We did the referral program and they have their sprint visa refferal card already. They said that they send it out on October 26..and i still havent got mine ;[. I went to the status on it and it said Pending..why does it take so long for me to get it?

Anyone purchased Pre from Wirefly?

Just wondering if it worked the same as going to a Sprint store. The Pre on wirefly is only 99.99 and there is no rebate to wait for. Just wanted to know if there were going to be any hidden problems by going this route? Anyone else have experience with this? Also, by buying through wirefly can you still get sprint total equipment protection and also corporate discounts added to your bill? (My wife works for Bank of America, so this is important to us)

Palm pre rebate from Bell?

Online Accessories Different Than In-Store?

Been looking for a Bluetooth unit for the car and have narrowed down my choices a little.

I have a $25 gift card and 25% off coupon so I'd like to buy this from Sprint if possible.

However, I see two BT car kits available online with Sprint. Walked into a store and they had different accessories.

Am I missing something or is my best bet to get these in-store where there may be more choices?

I think I just stumbled upon something pretty awesome. I went on Best Buys website and saw they have the HTC Hero for new or upgrade customers priced at $179.99. I am not eligible for an upgrade until June 2010, but for ****s and gigs I wanted to see if it would let me do it. Well it did. I entered in my existing account info and it was still discounting me the phone for $179.99 in the final stages of the checkout!

I haven't proceeded though as I needed to check with the wifey first (I know I am whipped) and also because I'd rather go in the store and do this in person so I can have the phone today. Hopefully they will let me do the same thing there. When I have more info I will update you all.

Does anyone have a $1,000,000 Sprint bill?

Wow. I sure wasn't expecting to be billed for 2 months on my first Sprint bill. After $249 for the Pre then 1st bill for 2 months service makes for an expensive entry fee for Sprint/Pre.

No, my 1st bill wasn't for $1,000,000. I just thought it was humorous that Sprint has enough spaces in the Amount Enclosed field to accommodate a $1,000,000+ bill.
