Default New Apps are finally coming soon?

App Catalog to get Expansion of Applications, starting this*week? - all things Pre - PreThinking

Quote:
You heard it here first! Confirmed by a number of devs that got accepted in the Early Access program, developers can now submit their apps to Palm for consideration to be included in the Beta App Catalog, starting from today. Not knowing the averge approval time for app submissions, we should start seeing the influx of apps to the App Catalog starting from today, tomorrow, or within the next week.

The lack of apps on the Pre has been what pulled back many potential Pre consumers. With "thousands" of Early Access Devs and Palm opening the SDK to the public soon, the App Catalog will no doubt be exploding with great apps to compete with Apple's App store by the end of this Summer.

I predict that the App Catalog will expand from 30 apps to about 80 apps by the end of next week.

Official word from Palm:

We are pleased to announce a limited expansion of access to the Beta Application Catalog for our SDK early access partners. Starting today, you can submit your application for consideration to be included in the Catalog.
I don't see this entry from Palm on the Palm blog or PDN blog, possibly PDN forums?

You and me both, it's been killing me that there have been no new apps for several weeks already.

Just keep in mind the iPhone had NO app store when it was first released. Stop acting like brats and be patient. Sheeeesh.

LOL, agreed. Some of the unofficial apps there were released by users were awesome. Like the translation app. I can only hope that the official apps that will be released shortly will be more along these lines.

I don't get the fart app retort. If a user wants to make a far app and another user wants to download that app, then so be it. Anyone who is a developer and pays the fee and gets approved can have their app in the store. You DON'T have to download it.

While Android app store started out with over 50 or so apps. I understand not equating with the iPhone, but there are other smartphone competitors with app stores.

The Pre competes today, with what is available now, not two years ago. So no we will keep the pressure on Palm to compete and not just be patient.
