Default Official webOS 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 Issues

Since webOS 1.2.1 adds just a few updates to 1.2.0 from earlier this week, webOS 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 notes will be combined.

Please post your feedback about webOS 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 into the appropriate thread:

webOS 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 New Features & Changes Found

webOS 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 Issues (This thread.)

webOS 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 Discussion

webOS Patch Discussion

Please post only specific issues you have had with the new webOS in this thread including details about when the problem occurred, what you were doing, etc.

Before upgrading to a new webOS, make sure that you remove all patches and themes. The fastest way is intall the Emergency Patch Remover patch and restart your Pre. Do a manual backup (Launcher->Backup->Backup now). Also do one last backup and sync. To remove all tweaks and restore without losing data after a new webOS is installed, use the webOS Repair Utility with Options->Compatibility Override checked. Homebrew Apps do not need to be removed and reinstalled.

Confirmed General Issues Found So Far: (See posts that follow.)
• App: Photos - Hard to bring down window to upload pix to facebook or photobucket
• App Catalog: Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and International credit cards are not accepted in the app catalog
• Bluetooth: Lost sync with certain Bluetooth devices - re-add device to fix
• Browser - Facebook - m.facebook still is zoomed out - Patch: iPhone User Agent Spoof
• Email: After a not delivered error, deleting the email does not stop the error message
• Memo: Delete Bug - Ex.: Type a word. Hit enter. Type another word. Move cursor to end of the line after the first word. Hold shift and press the backspace key. It will delete both words.
• Messaging: Sent text shows up twice. Exit and restart and second is gone.
• Music Player: Still unable to listen to certain WAV files in emails - CODec's missing still?
• Phone: Cannot adjust the volume if the phone is answered while it has been locked
• System: Exchange is enforcing a password requirement
• System: GPS correctly pinpoints in Google Maps. Google Services pinpoint is miles off.
• System: LED Notification code is still not enabled by Palm. Patch: (LED Notification patch)!
• System: Palm Profile - Some after the update lost their profile data and could not log in.
• System: Notification - Can no longer minimize by swiping them down
• System: Notification - Message notification now shows the contact picture but not the words -screenshot.
• System: "Sorry, Out of memory" error not addressed
• System: Reinstalling - Some get a second 1.2.0 update that is 153MB (discussion).

Issues Resolved:
Resolved! • Select text to copy by press & hold SHIFT and tap text (not the Orange key).
Resolved!Email Issues - Exchange, 4smartphone.com, & mail2web exchange email
Resolved! On Screen Keyboard has been updated to work with webOS 1.2! Download with Preware.
Resolved! • System: webOS 1.2 Does Not Fix iTunes Sync.
Resolved! • Apps: MotionApps Classic 2.0 WiFi Hotsync is working
Resolved!webOS Quick Install 2.7 and beyond tweaks work with webOS 1.2.1.

Turns out you can also flick from right to left to go "back". But ive always used flick down. I can understand its possible to flick away when your just scrolling, but I never had that problem.

Oh well. Ill adapt.

The "Out of memory" glitch for installing apps has NOT been fixed! What kind of joke is this?

I don't think that was a part of the offical release. Someone said it was listed as a feature that can be enabled when they were going through the leaked version, but I think you have to root or go into dev mode.

After update... installed Original Blue Theme...

Items that did not theme appropriately include:

1. Sprint logo at top left corner
2. Clock at top center
3. Quick Launch bar
4. little SMS bubble within text conversation view
5. the main wallpaper/background
6. Boot screen

...and - after a reboot - the battery icon reverted back to OEM as well.

As far as I can tell, all other elements and icons themed as I remember them. Perhaps the locations or names of these elements is not the same in 1.2 as it was in 1.1?

Default Still cannot listen to WAV attachments in Email

After updating to 1.2.0, I still cannot listen to voicemails I receive via email in WAV format. Really frustrating.

Can someone else confirm this issue?

Thanks.

@mgpatel, I found the info on palm forum (by doing a google search of the issue) regarding the wav voicemail attachments not playing. Apparently it is the encoding method of the telephone system. Read these two pages - and someone was able to find a fix (by changing the encoding on the phone system, not on the palm pre):

Hmm. tried to listen to some music after the update and it would no sync with my headset. Checked the profiles listed and my headset was not there, yet my T505 was. Re-added it and all is fine. Just giving a heads up.

Just thought I'd report over here too that the battery drain while audio streaming is paused bug is still present in 1.2.0 (tested with Ampache Mobile).

For those unaware of it, the bug exhibits itself whenever an audio streaming app is paused, once the Pre suspends (screen going dark), the device starts making a TCP connection to the streaming server and closing it immediately repeatedly about twice a second over the EVDO link. Obviously not good for battery drain. The only real workaround for this is to make sure and close a streaming app when it's not in use (the bug doesn't seem to affect the app while it's actually playing).

Default Cursor control

Hey all,

The official feature list sez: When you press and hold the orange key/Option and drag onscreen, the cursor now moves one word at a time instead of one character at time in Email, Memos, and other apps. The cursor still moves one character at a time in the Web address bar and Messaging body text entry field.

I'm not finding this to be the case. When I HIGHLIGHT, it snaps-to-word as it should, but simple scrolling around is still moving by character for me. Anyone else?

Someone pls try uploading a photo. After the update I can no longer see the part of the screen that shows my upload options; I.e. Facebook, Photobucket, etc.

After the update, Exchange is enforcing a password requirement. I had to deal with this on my Mogul, and now I get to deal with it again! Yay...

Default volume locked during call while handset locked

One cannot adjust the volume if the phone is answered while it has been locked. Very annoying.

Does palm read this thread? I've submitted this to their feedback as well.

So after I updated to 1.2 and my Pre reporting it was completed successfully. I tried some of the features in 1.2 and confirmed they worked. Thought nothing of it. Sat my Pre down and left it alone for 30 minutes and come back and I got a notice that WebOS 1.2 Update is ready for install? What!?!?!?! I went into Device Info and confirmed I have WebOS 1.2... anyone else seen this?

New location services option for Google Services not working. When I use GPS only, I am correctly pinpointed in Google Maps. When I turn on Google Services (with or without GPS) I'm pinpointed 10 mi away with a 15 mi radius. Then when the phone goes to standby with the map open it will relocate over 250 mi away when I turn it back on. Then tried zooming in on new location to see where it was and the phone locked up. Done this twice so far.. the first time it automatically restarted and now it won't respond.

OMG I'm having the same issues with my mail2web exchange account. Is there anyway I can go back to the old ROM? I HAVE to have mail on my phone working.
