Web Browser is Damaged...Shows a blank page
Wonder if anyone has seen this. I had an issue with WebOS Quick Install 2.72 and a theme. I got screwed up and could not use the launcher..it would just give a search folder. Anyway "AnOutsider" provided me with a link to the default theme, I installed that (Ipk) and everything semed to work...except the web browser. I open it, it displays the quick cards, but if I try to go to any of them or type an address, I get an off white page, no refresh control, no back button. There seems to be a faint hint of the URL area, but you cannot type there. If I rotate the phone it moves with it, but never loads abnything.
Apps such as Google maps, still get there pages loaded, and inbedded sites in my email will still show, but if I click a hypeerlink...blank page.
Any ideas?
Kent

Use WebOS Repair Utility. If that doesn't work then I suggest doctoring it.

Thanks! Yes I think I can hold out until Webos Repair is out. I want to try that first before the doctor.

If you have root access (terminal) or SFTP, then I can provide a quicker solution. If not, you can wait.

Use http://forums.precentral.net/web-os-...tock-file.html.
You will wanna replace the com.palm.app.browser folder located in "/usr/palm/applications/". Place the extracted data from the WebOS Doctor image in the /media/internal/ folder.
Run the command:
Code:
cp -r /media/internal/com.palm.app.browser /usr/palm/applications/
Tell me how it goes.

This used to happen to me sometimes after I would open a link it would try to load forever. Then I couldn't open anything in a seperate card either, just blank white page. For me rebooting solved the problem everytime.

used cp -rf /media/internal/com.palm.app.browser /usr/palm/applications/
got:
cp: cannot creat /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.browser/app/models/browser-prefs file exist
This is just one all of the files did this...
Strange I am root@castle: /#
typed alias to see if the cp command had been cloaked..but no.... seems straight thru..
This one is strange it should work?

Does the filesystem need to be set as writable first before doing this?
mount -o remount,rw /

Cbulock, I am thinking that maybe the issue. What would the full command line be?
Would i just run that as you have it, to make the "harddrive" writable?

Yea, just do "mount -o remount,rw /" without the quotes to make the filesystem writable, and then "mount -o remount,ro /" afterwards to make it read-only

Not to mention an even better understanding of the underlying operating system!
