As mentioned above, the reader does not work perfectly in part because it is difficult to open the icons with a finger, but overall it is a good fit and saves my ebooks.

Great feedback! – would you please share your experience with other users on Classic Well, a user driven forum where you can talk about the apps you tried with Classic (at Classic Well - MotionApps)

That being said, I probably wasn't going to buy it anyway, $30 is just too much for how little I'd need it.
Glad to hear it's working out better though.

I have used the T5 less and less because I tire of carrying it and a phone especially since smartphones have progressed to the point of replacing it however I'm just not sure if I will purchase classic unless it can nearly flawlessly replace my T5. Obvious I don't use PIM stuff in the T5 any more but there are a handful of 3rd party apps and games I used quite a bit on it that I have not been able to replace even when I was using a blackberry for a year. And I don't know if there will every be something to replace them on webOS at least not for a while yet as we are still waiting for public release of the tools to get mass development going. Most hobby coders and such that generate free/opensource stuff will likely not work on anything until they have the tools to make things smoother and easier to do.

Yes, spaces in HotSync ID are allowed in 1.1. and you can always try it before you buy it - Classic comes with a fully functional 7 days trial. We hope it will be "a keeper" for you

No, not a joke at all. It is actually about serious work and effort. Did you talk to our support people? Tell them what is going on, as they should be able to help you. Seriously.

I want to use ThoughtManager, an outliner which creates and uses .pdb files. While I'm confident I could install all the .pdb files I have and use them in Classic, I can't get a straight answer from anyone about whether or not I can back up what I create/edit in Classic, to my computer for safekeeping.
Whenever my Palm or Treo REALLY crashed, I had backup data elsewhere. Classis is "flaky" and if it crashes hard, is all my data gone?
If data created in Classic (new/altered .pdbs) can't be backed up somehow, even manually, then using Classic for anything important would seem to be a big, unwise gamble.
|
You can backup data using some third party app that performs backups – just as you did on your older Treo or Centro. Come on, jump in for 7 days trial and ping support people if any questions.

It sure would be nice to be able to try a new version to see if the apps I like finally run on it. But when I updated, I am still past the trial period. So I guess I don't get to try a new version to see if it is ready to purchase yet, without resetting my Pre.
I could see this on an anti-piracy thing, but it makes it impossible for someone to test new versions to ever decide to buy.

MotionApps with Agendus 13.0
I was wondering if anyone has had some experience using the emulator MotionApps with Iambic's "Agendus 13.0" It said on there website that it was "certified" but what does that really mean? Do all the functions work as they did on my Zire 72.
Any thoughts or experiences would be helpful.

The only reason I would buy this program is to get GroupTexting to work. However, when I downloaded the 1.1 demo - it didn't. As such, it seems to be a pointless program. If I can't use it to do what the Pre currently doesn't, then what's the point of it?

It won't work with the Pre's PIM databases - only ones confined to Garnet so you won't be able to sync etc.

Good suggestion. Hope MotionApps can take it up and I'm glad to see them here

sacherjj makes a great point. I opted not to try classic until 1.1.05, and despite a long time to setup, I've had success so far, for my needs. I will buy it at the end of my trial period. But it's hard to tell folks like sacherjj, "trust me, it works", especially when the risk is $30. Folks should have a new trial period for 1.1, which seems pretty different from previous versions.

i must say that even though it has its faults, its a fairly decent program. it does what it says it will do. however, $30 is to much. the software will be .99 cents when the SDK goes into full swing and all the old palm apps get re-written. of course, i already made my $30 donation.....

As a result of having more trial time from the additional 7 days I have been able to take my gained knowledge from after the other trial was up and apply it to adding all of my apps I used on my palm T5 on classic. All but two of them appear to work just fine so far. I did encounter one bluescreen after installing one card game but upon closing classic and running the app post install it loaded up fine. I get a little notification that each of my apps I have installed aren't certified so no telling yet if they are 100% error free operation. But what little bit I have used them so far I've encountered no issues aside from the two that didn't work Patience (freeware by Keith Packard and Paul Close) and filez (by nosleep software). Any chance of a real nice sale on classic like as much as 50% off? Or a get classic free if you buy X amount of accessories or something?

I tried Classic and I like it, but personally I think $30 is to much. Especially as you have to also buy apps to run on it. sooner or later the app catalog's going to take off and all these apps will likely be available on WebOS with out needing to by the $30 classic emulator.

I agree and I also think far more than 7 days is needed to fully decide if buying it is right for you. Even after 14 days I couldn't justify buying it due to lack of time to be sure it was something I really wanted or needed. But based on the trial time I had I don't think I use it enough to justify the price. Originally the impression was that being able to run old oalmOS apps would be included and not an extra cost. I know it is a 3rd party and they want to make money and there is nothing wrong with that. But I think they might get more sales if it was cheaper. Like I would maybe consider buying it for much less than it is and if it allowed for full 320x480 screen use with some other way to navigate and use the buttons. But then even there it is hard to say because I would need a lot more time to evaluate it. Not to mention there were apps I wanted or needed that didn't work with it and there is no way to contact the devs for several of them since the apps were completed products with no issues and they are free apps made by homebrew type devs and there was no need to maintain current contact info for the apps.
