Can chat history and call log be downloaded?

I have to exchange my phone, and would like to save the call log and chat history. There must be a way to do this, but it is not part of a normal sync. There is a thread from 2004 about this, but IDK if/how it applies to a Centro.

call log is in "PhoneCallDB", chat history in "Messages Database"

I had to exchange my Centro for a replacement Centro about 6 mos. ago. I use nvbackup, a freeware program, to backup everything to my SD card. When you get the new Centro, just pop the SD card in the new Centro and run nvbackup from the card. Do a restore, and everything comes back - call log, registrations, etc. Works great for me.
Make sure you select in the nvbackup prefs to put nvbackup on the card so it can be run on the new Centro.
