Default NoAutoOff.prc

NoAutoOff is a standalone application that disable/enable Treo's AutoOff Timer.

No hackmaster needed, just enable NoAutoOff. Press left-shift button follow by right-shift button in any application to toggle the AutoOff Timer. It will also reactivate the AutoOff Timer upon quitting the current application.

Comments/bug reports are welcomed.

What about having a small popup which tells you about switching on/off the noAutoOff feature.

Here it goes.

But I can't get my Treo 650 simulator to recognise the LiftShift-RightShift key presses. So NoAutoOff-0.91b-sim.prc is meant for the Treo 650 simulator, this use Opt-Alt key presses. (RightShift-End on the simulator)

Hi,

Are you running ver 0.91 on a physical Treo 650?
After reading your post & just to re-confirm, I load & run ver 0.91
on my Treo 650, & it runs as intended.

1. Call up NoAutoOff, enable it & exit, it should briefly popup
the message "N-A-O is ACTIVE".

2. In any application, tap the left-shift key, then right-shift key, it
should briefly popup the message "NEVER AutoOff". If you do the
left-shift right-shift again, or if you quit the current application,
it should popup the "AutoOff RESTORED". This is to prevent
battery drain-out if ever you forget to restore the AutoOff timer.

3. To disable NoAutoOff: Call up NoAutoOff, uncheck 'Enable' &
'Install on reset' then exit, it should popup the message
"N-A-O DISABLED".

.

Yes, I see this.

Unfortunately, it isn't displayed. All I get is a beep, the same beep I would get when I press some key in the launcher when there is no app starting with this letter. Same beep also comes, when NoAutoOff is disabled. Seems it doesn't recognize the key...

Maybe you are having background application/s monitoring/manupulating the
shift keys.

Try the attached version 0.92 & see if it works for you, this version use the
Option-Alt keys combination. On the Treo 650 simulator, use the PC's
RightShift-End keys combination.

What a great utility! Smooth and unobtrusive... Thanks stevengoh.

In case you need ideas for enhancement, here is one: an inclusion
(or exclusion) list that will enable NoAutoOff automatically (or not)

Awsome app! How about an LED notification when the ringer switch is off for another enhancement suggestion?

Default NoAutoOff ver 0.93 beta

Thanks guys for the kind words, I am just another Treo user trying to get the best out of my Treo 650, tweak it if I have to, only if I know how. Heavy coding is out of my capabilitiy & limited resource, you see, I use the Free OnboardC to to do the compilation.

Anyhow, I am attaching version 0.93, which I add a '30 mins AutoOff' option bcs 'NEVER' AutoOff is a bit risky for the forgetfuls. Also a fix to avoid conflicts with applications using the Option+Alt trigger, e.g., KBLightsOff.

Default NoAutoOff ver 0.93b2 beta

Sorry guys, upload the wrong file which set the AutoOff Timer to 30 secs instead of the intended 30 mins. The attached ver 0.93b2 corrects the error.

Cheers

stevengoh!

I liked the original selection of shift-shift key better... The option key is
over-used as such on the Treo. Besides, if we mis-type the "option" key
we are greeted with an unpleasant native PalmOS window (Alt key help
window). This was not a problem with the shift-shift combination.

Just my opinion... nothing to do with this GREAT utility.

OMG, it was shift-shift... Why nobody told me that? I've tried space+space all the time and thought, why doesn't it work... Oh, what am I ashamed. Sorry. Oh, even better I've used shift+space... Ok, I will try the old version and report back, if it works for me. I'm sorry.

Well, trying out the old versions: still doesn't work, not even with the correct keys :-) But 0.93 works fine. I'll stay with it.

I do agree to the fact that the option-key is over utilised on the Treo 650, that's why I used 'LShift-RShift' in the initial version.

Well, I think I have a win-win solution with the attached 0.94 version.

I revert back to 'LShift-RShift' as the default trigger, but with an additional 'Option-Alt Trigger' checkbox. This also allows NoAutoOff to run on the Treo 650 simulator.
