Excellent! I have looked around, however, an I cannot seem to find a list of changes since 7.50.

ditto. My biggest gripe, and the reason I don't use it even though I bought it is that it doesn't allow first letter last name searches. You either search for the first name or the last. I like the way Contacts does it better. I like to know what changes were made in this edition to see if it now is more functional for me.

Hi,

But TAKEphONE does allow for this type of search.

I was trying out takephone. The more I use it the more I like. There is one annoyance I noticed on my treo 680. When the phone call is over it switches to phone app for a little while before going back to takephone. Is there a way to avoid that extra step?

Afraid this cant behelped on the 680 - the built-in PHONE app has top priority on handling telephony events, so it handles the call drop before TAKEphONE has the chance...

How do you do a first name, first letter and last name search? And, what are the changes in 7.55?

Just type the first letter and continue to the last name.
Doesnt it work for you ? what version are you using ?
Oh - and this does not work in "Turbo" mode.

If you have it searching words or within words rather than fields, then you need to add a space and I believe it acts as an "&". I like within words, since I can usually remember the starting sound of the first name & last names. Also here in Iceland 90% of males have *son as part of the last name and women have *dottir as part of the last name -- if you can't tell I'm bad with names, so takephone is a great help. Takephone searching is the reason I bought it.

This may sound silly, but what exactly IS turbo mode
Its a little embarasing, because (Shimon you KNOW) I have been using this for years and never tried, or understood it...

From the TP Manual
Turbo mode
You can activate “Turbo” search to get a much faster search. When this option is selected,
the search is done using the built-in address-book sorted list (You can configure the addressbook
database to be sorted in one of two ways: “Last Name, then First Name” or “Company,
then Last Name”). Since the search is done on a sorted list, it is VERY FAST, but – it is
limited to the fields mentioned above.
Note: This search works like the built-in address-book lookup, with one difference – while the
built-in address-book lookup only searches the first field (“Last Name” or “Company”,
dependent on the sort order you defined in the address-book preferences), TAKEphONE
allows narrowing down the search results by tapping the “…And…” button while doing a
“Keypad” search, or by entering a space. This will divide the search string into two, so both
fields used for the sort can be searched. This button appears only after you tapped the first
search text.
Example: If you enter “ABC”, “DEF”, “…And…”, “GHI”, “JKL”, then the software will look for
“ABC”, “DEF” in the first field (“Last Name” or “Company”), and for “GHI”, “JKL” in the second
field (“First Name” or “Last Name”).
Yet another note: You can toggle “Turbo” mode ON/Off using from the popup list by
tapping the categories selector. The current state is shown on the categories selector – when
it is ON you will see:

Shimon,

If possible, with the next release, can you have Takephone have the option of assigning default appz? Currently, you can't assign different appz for "Internet", "Emails", "SMS", and "Maps"; they are under the "Helpers" option in Prefs. Thanks.

Maybe I don't understand the question, but in TP if you go Menu->Pref->Helpers you can assign default apps.

It allows you to but not the things I've mentioned above. Somehow, when I try to assign it to a different appz, nothing else appears except the default built-in appz.

Helper apps are apps that support an interface defined by Palm.
Not all apps do support it.

Can you give me an example of an app you want to select as a helper, but can not ?

Sure....for default "SMS", I want to use SMS Pager from Toysoft instead of "Messaging" that is built in and for "Email" I want to use "Agendus Mail" instead of the built in one.

Wouldn't that be controlled by default app in the prefs applet? You have email, messaging, andweb browser there.

Can they be selected in the system "Prefs" app - at the "Default apps" section ?
