I listen to NPR when commuting. (Publicradiofan.com or WNYC).
For music, I stream my own using Gloonet.

This is how i do it but maybe there is a easier way.
I download winamp pro and I went to shout cast radio section then I once i found a LOW BITRATE STREAM (24kbs - 96KBS) I Right Clicked one the Stream once i had it playing and went to FILE INFO you are looking for the stream url would look somthing like this 235.12.155:8000.

Import 235.12.155:8000 in ptunes by going to Chose songs button.. HERES WHAT TOOK ME A WHILE TO FINGURE OUT ! In the upper right hand corner hit the down arrow and the choose INTERNET RADIO and type in the 235.12.155:8000 ..

Good luck i hope this help.

I listen to these live radio stations daily - WLS Chicago, KNAK Greeley Colorado, and WNYC. Also, I have at least 20 other stations bookmarked from all over the world for when I'm in the mood to channel surf.

For internet stations I listen to Astreaux World, Somafm, io2go RadioAmbient, Magnatune.com, lounge-radio.com, and Paxahau.

Note that if you're only going through the shoutcast portal to find streams, you're limiting your options of what is available.

I've tried this with a sports radio station that I like that broadcast on the net (610wip.com), but can't get it on my T650. Is this only limited to some internet broadcast or is there a way to get any station on the Treo?

610wip uses windows media player compat streams. This allows them to push tailored advertisements to your wmp client. Capitalism, and all that. Some stations are opening up and offering additional stream formats, like MP3 or OGG.

Almost all of the sports radio stations I've found are wmp or real compatible. One station that streams in mp3 is ESPN 950 out of Indianapolis. Try http://war.str3am.com:7010/listen.pls

So, I take it there's no workaround to get WIP?

Another procedure (hack/workaround) I've done - especially for stations with LONG urls - is to:
1. right-click open the .pls (or .m3u) file on your computer in wordpad
2. edit out everything BUT the stations' url
3. save the document as a raw text file - name it whatever you want
4. beam/hotsync it to your Treo
5. open the file in docs-to-go (if you have it)
6. highlight/copy the url text string
7. open ptunes and paste the text string into ptunes
8. pTunes SHOULD actually open the station and even downloads the station name and/or song list (if the station streams it).

Some stations I listen to (which may not necessarily be others' personal styles) are:
1) Highlander radio (from Dublin, Ireland)

3) Grooveradio:

I've been trying for one for months now. If you stumble across one, please share.

Rebroadcasting it (live) from your home server with Shoutcast Server would be one way.

it looks like it's down, and nothing to do with your end. I sent the webmaster an email asking for status. they have a feedback form on their site.

I look up streams through treobits:

NPR
ESPN 950
88.3 The Wind (christian)
Life 100.3
Bach-radio (classical)
