Sorry that it still doesn't seem to be working. The one think I might suggest is checking to make sure there isn't a bad email or calendar item that is causing it to crash. The best way to do that is move all messages, calendar items less than 2 weeks old and in the future to an offline folder and try to sync. If that works, add a couple of days worth of messages at a time until it starts freeze again and then narrow it down to the one message/event that is causing the problem.

Good luck.

How do you purge all info from Calendar, email and contacts? Can you do that without purging other additions such as added apps and music and photos?

What I was suggesting needs to be done on your server version of your mail, not on your Treo. On your outlook desktop, you can create two new folders and move the mail to one and the calendar items to the other.

I lost my calendar after attempting to setup Exchange email in VersaMail today. I have since deleted Exchange email, but cannot get back my calendar. I changed settings in Custom to Desktop overrides Handheld, but that didn't work, sync just erased Palm desktop calendar. Then I filled in most of my basic calendar to Palm Desktop and tried again, erased everything again....Will your suggestion work for me? I'm afraid to try anything at this point..
Where is this "exchange server" anyway and does IT have my calendar??

The exchange server is a centralized server that stores Outlook information for companies. If your company uses Outlook, your IT department may have a backup copy of your calendar that you can request.

I don't think my suggestion above will help, that's just to get rid of a bad calendar item.

Did syncing again as you described above, delete all of your calendar entries in your Palm Desktop or just on the handheld?

Thanks for the lesson, now I know why my attempt at setting up EXCHANGE in my VersaMail didn't work, I don't use Outlook and neither does my corporate email.
And, YES, all is lost (handheld and desktop)! A soft reset got the sync back in sync (so to speak) and I'm now in the process of reentering my appts, etc. Unfortunately, calendard history has been lost permanently.
Thanks for the help.

If you are using Versamail through an Exchange server to get email than Versamail is hijacking your calendar and will only sync trhough hiting the sync button in Versamail. Everything else will sync during hotsync, but calendar will always reset to "do nothing" and even changing it in custom will not change its behavior. This is not a bad thing as long as you understand that it works that way. If you autosync, your email and calendar will update each time you connect.
This was posted in another thread and looks like the issue I'm still dealing with. Can anyone detail how to resolve?

Just wanted to bring this back to the front because it helped me with a 'Contacts' sync problem I was having. Now I see what the problem is (thanks to your app). This should be a must have app on everyone's Palm device. Thanks.

Outlook or Palm Desktop?

Dunno if this helps but I had an issue with some appts not synching on one PC but on another, also loads of duplicates. Eventually I bought pocket mirror XT standard, it works perectly now.

Bill!

I was having the same problem, and my dbScan (which I now realize was 1.4 or something like that) kept resetting my device.

I search "calendar+freeze", find this thread, and all is well once more.

I just wanted to say that you rock. You rock severely hard.

(now... if you can just tell me why my BackupMan keeps resetting after it's done backing up, I might very well go have a sex change operation just so I can have your baby )

Default All hail Bill!

Spouse having same problems with syncing his 650. I think I knew somewhere in the back of my mind about the dbSync tool, but your post was most timely.

I followed your directions exactly. The tool found nine Calendar records in the PalmOne db to delete.

Many thanks,
Vern

(unlike busyba, I AM a woman...and although I am very grateful, I'm not going to have a baby for you! Hopefully my gratitude will be enough.)

My hotsync started crashing tonight (it's been a while since I hotsynced) and dbScan was showing one record deleted, but it kept crashing when I'd run delete, then exit, therefore not actually fixing the record.

Following Bill's advice to CHOOSE NEITHER worked! No crash on exit, record cleaned up, hotsync worked. Yay! More Kudo's Bill!

As indicated by your hotsync log, you are not syncing tot he Palm Desktop. ou are syncing to Outlook. If you want to change that behavior and sync to the Palm Desktop, you will have to reinstall the program and then when it prompts you, select Palm Desktop instead on Outllok.

Just a note....I wasn't aware of anything wrong so I just tried a "dry run" of this. Next time I opened contacts I had only those on my SD card. Only save was a back up restore.

I'm confused, you have contacts on your SD card? Curious what you mean here.
