Unhappy

I have the EXACT same problem.

I'm coming from a BlackBerry to the T650.

Everything (contacts, ToDo's, Notes) sync properly, except the calendar.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled. No luck. The HotSync manager keeps setting the proceedure to "Do Nothing" even though I set the default to "Syncronize".

I use a Home PC and a Laptop. My appointments show up properly on my laptop now, but after playing with the settings, it now got screwed up on the desktop.

I'm running an unlocked GSM Cingular Treo 650 with unbranded firmware from PalmOne version 1.28 and Software 1.13-ROW.

Please help me figure this one out so I don't loose all my appointments for good

I am having similar issues I think. My Calendar will sync about 20 % of the time. The other 80 % of the time I get the message, "Hotsync process interrupted" and it's always at the same place. It always interrupts when it is attempting to sync the calendar. When I check the hotsync log it gives me some random error # and says hotsync with Calendar failed.

Is this what you are talking about?

1. Install dbScan (attached)
2. Launch it and choose "Other"
3. From the menu, choose Options/"Remove All Deleted Records"
4. Do this for both the PalmSource and PalmOne databases
5. Change the action of the desktop conduits (for those PIMs that had records removed) to "Handheld overwrites desktop"
6. Hotsync

Bill...that might fix everyone else's problem but I don't think that will fix mine. Thanks anyway. Anyone else?

Default calendar sync

I have a T650 and am using Microsoft Entourage on a Mac running OS X. Everything syncs except for the location and category for calendar entries. Anyone find a work around for this?

Bill,

Thanks! My Hotsynch was hanging on the calendar, so followed your advice. But I didn't want the handheld to overwrite the desktop, because I truly wanted to synch them, since I had added so much to my desktop. So I didn't follow #5, and instead left them to synch. And it worked anyway! Three cheers to you and TreoCentral for getting me out of a pinch -- again!

Are you using Versamail ActiveSync to get mail from an exchange server or did you ever setup a mail account using Activesync? That will automatically set the calendar sync to do nothing as Activesync gets emails and calendar wirelessly not via hotsync.

If you did set it up, either delete that account or start using the wireless sync to get your calendar.

The sync problem that I am having certainly cannot be unique just to me, yet I have searched for hours on the net looking for the answer but have come up empty.

I purchased a T650 about three weeks ago from Verizon. I am trying to sync but NOTHING will!!! Grrrrrr.... Sorry. I'll try to contain myself.

I'm running Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711) on my PC. (Sure, it's old but it works.) I'm getting my mail sent to my Outlook client via a pop3 server. It is configured to receive mail using only that method (vice Corporate or Workgroup).

I used the CD that came with the phone (Verizon) to install a product from IntelliSync. The product is called PC Monitor. I'm sure this product is well known by Treo users.

Well, when I open this Wireless Sync Application (from IntelliSync) I click the Setup button. The next screen gives me a choice to select from Individual Monitor or Workgroup Monitor. I select the Individual Monitor option button then click Next.

The next screen, of course, asks for my Verizon Wireless Phone number and my Verizon password. Clicking Next finally renders the error message.

The error message reads...
"Unable to locate MAPI dlls. Please ensure that Outlook is the default mail client. This may be verified by clicking on Internet Options in the Control Options and selecting the Programs Tab."

Duh! I checked, of course, and Outlook is the default mail client.

Oh! And one last thing: I tried SnapperMail as a go around but it didn't solve the problem.

Any suggestions!

First: what are you trying to sync? Calendar, contacts, tasks, notes & e-mail?

Second: Do you want to sync over-the-air using your data plan (it had better be unlimited, and on Verizon be prepared to have some incoming voice calls go to directly to voicemail during data sessions)? Or do you just want to sync the old-fashioned way via HotSync with a cable?

Third: If you want to get e-mail on your Treo, do you want to retrieve it while out of the office, or is syncing mail at the desktop sufficient for your needs?

1. I want to sync everything you mentioned especially my calendar and contacts.

2. I subscribed to Verizon's unlimited data plan. Over-the-air sync would be most convenient, but I'd settle for the cable method too.

3. I already do receive email to my T650 while I am out of the office. I just can't sync my calendar, contacts, notes, and tasks.

Finally, I think that I am just learning that my client Outlook must need to be set up with Exchange, but my Outlook client receives mail via a POP account. Is this the ultimate problem?

In the wireless sync (verizon) there is a setup or options selection in the menu, then there's an Advanced button in there. If you don't have the box checked to
"Enable other sync apps" you won't be able to sync outlook. I had the same problem and this solved my problem, at least I think it did...I need to test it at work in the AM.

The palm link: http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/W...m_External2001

See if that helps you out. Note that this would solve the hotsync via cable method. I don't know why calendars, contacts, etc wouldn't sync over Wireless Sync unless you didn't have those options checked in ....Wireless Sync app...Settings under menu...then pick the settings (syncexpress or wireless sync should be the two choices). The screen I'm thinking of will have a bunch of checkboxes and their corresponding items including datebook, contacts, etc.

Hope this was somewhat relevant. I noticed this problem today and this is how I fixed it.

I tried this and it did not work for me. I am running Outlook 2003, Windows Exchange Server and using Palm Desktop. When I change the action in Palm Desktop to "Handheld overwrites desktop" and then HotSync, it doesn't sync the calendar and when I open Palm Desktop again it has been mysteriously changed back to "Do Nothing" for only the calendar sync function. Any other ideas?

ETA: The calendar doesn't sync with either HotSync or wirelessly, but I do get mail wirelessly and can sync everything else through HotSync.

Well, which is it? Are you syncing your Calendar, Tasks and Contacts with Outlook or Palm Desktop?

Well it seems the settings adjustments are being done in Palm Desktop (or by right clicking the HotSync icon in the tray and clicking "Custom", but I am syncing with my Outlook. In other words, in that Custom window, it reads "Contacts (Outlook)." Does that make sense?

I see what you mean. When you say Palm Desktop, you mean HotSync Manager; Palm Desktop is the Palm-brand PIM desktop app. What does your Hotsync log say?
