Question Proximity Sensor not working- Return question

I have determined that my proximity sensor is not working. When I take a call the screen does not dim so that any contact my ear makes with the phone opens up various programs or inadvertently ends the call. I ran the test for the proximity sensor and the phone did not vibrate when I put my palm near the screen. I plan on taking it to the Sprint store to get a replacement and want to know if having a Zagg skin on the phone will raise alarm bells and jeopardize my chances of a smooth exchange/repair (ie Sprint Employee says "Oh I see you applied a skin, the liquid must have caused the issue, we can't do anything for you"). If anyone has had a successful or unsuccessful experience involving a sprint exchange/repair and a device with a skin applied I would love to hear the result. Thanks.

I realize that the Zagg skin itself might be the problem- If anyone can address that possibility as well that would be great. Thanks.
