Fixed: Login Credentials Rejected
Over the past few weeks I've encountered a problem that seems to be effecting several other people. Occasionally, when trying to access my gmail, I get the following error:
"Login Credentials Rejected. Tap to update your password"
I contacted Sprint and they didn't know how to help me. I've looked on the internet to find a solution, but nothing came up. All I found were a bunch of people with the same problem, but no solutions. So instead of responding to all of those posts, I thought I'd just post how I solved the problem here.
If you're using IMAP, go to "Settings" -> "Forwarding and POP/IMAP", look at the "POP Download:" section, and select "Disable POP."
If you're using POP, go to "Settings" -> "Forwarding and POP/IMAP", look at the "IMAP Access:" section, and select "Disable IMAP."
Apparently if both IMAP and POP are enabled, the Pre's email sync has issues.
Simple as that.

Thanks for the info. I am using IMAP. Can you please walk me through the steps on how to disable POP? I don't see "Settings" -> "Forwarding and POP/IMAP", look at the "POP Download:" section, and select "Disable POP." under preferences and accounts. Thanks

Nevermind
So as it turns out, this was a temporary fix. It fixed the problem for about a day, then the error message started to pop up again.
Sorry.

I think it was a Yahoo mail issue, not google gmail issue. I've only had this happen with Yahoomail. Too bad it wasn't a fix, cause I get this quite often on my Yahoomail account.

had one of our pre users with the yahoo credenials error...
I strongly believe it is because yahoo does not allow IMAP IDLE (thus disconnecting you from the server)

Im not sure how long this will last but so far it seems to be working.
But here is the message i found while searching. You have to set your yahoo account to calendar beta.
"Yahoo!: This account includes email, calendar, and contacts. Sprint customers can also set up instant messaging. Setting up a Yahoo! account brings in Yahoo! Mail Plus email (and for Sprint only, Yahoo! Mail), contacts, and calendar events, and if applicable, sets up Yahoo! IM in Messaging as well. In addition, email and calendar are automatically synchronized, so changes you make to info on your phone are kept in sync with changes you make to your info on Yahoo.com. Your phone also displays contacts from your Yahoo! account on your phone; you cannot, however, edit Yahoo! contacts on your phone.
NOTE You must add the beta version of the new Yahoo! Calendar to your online Yahoo! account before you set up your Yahoo! account on your phone. To add the beta Calendar app, go to: switch.calendar.yahoo.com

I don't see this issue with 1.3.1. At least not so far.
However, I did have an issue where I couln't send an email for a couple of hours. Email Application Error was the message reported. i couldn't send any email from multiple yahoo accounts. I could from gmail. I could receive emails on yahoo account as well.
Anyway, hopefully we will see more improvements.
