Will doctors stick by Palm?

One very good point worthy of discussion. I think Palm will eventually give in and provide desktop synch:

I'm a doc, and would have a hard time arguing whether patient data or my personal financial data is more worthy of security. It's an issue for both!

One thought that comes to mind almost immediately about this is that while it's simply a good idea to securely transmit personal data, when it comes to patient data it's the law. That is surely going to have an impact on most doctors.

However, there are ways to overcome even that hurdle.

There are two aspects to data security: transmission and storage. Secure transmission is provided by https, and secure storage can be provided by ensuring security of the server holding the data. There are indeed ways to make this work without desktop sync (though I agree it should be provided).
