650 to 680 Software Compatibility List

Well, I've been waiting for this type of thread to get started, so since it hasn't happened I thought I'd kick it off. I've seen a couple of random posts about software that does or does not work. Let's consolidate that info here...it'll make it easier on all of us. I don't yet have a 680...been searching the stores (Cingular and Palm) and also have an order online.

For the lucky ones out there with devices in hand, post your info here.

If we start getting some action here, maybe this can be made sticky.

KeyGuard Time - not compatible with 680
Butler - LED notification not working
KeyCaps - doesn't work in Contacts
TakePhone - can't run Phone app in program

Softick Audio Gateway does NOT work for me. I've tried almost every version that they have from 1.2 to 1.7. No joy. :-(

Edit***********, I can no longer download software nor weather updates updates from Agendus Professional! I wonder how long will it take software vendors to issue patches for these programs.****

Agendus works fine for me now. I think my problem may have been a Cingular network problem and Iambic website being temporary down didnt help matters.

Shimon stated that the new release of Takephone - #7 will work with the 680. And you should consider sending an email to Butler's developer - Rob is very anal about support.

I'm having trouble with 2 apps.

alarms in Datebk6 6.0a-s2 -- hard buttons don't cancel/snooze.

Can't make zlauncher 5.41 the default launcher -- preference is checked, but standard palm launcher comes up when I press the home button.

I am having problems with ZLauncher also. It does not default to ZLauncher when I hit the home button, and it will not show the signal strength on the phone. It shows no signal.

Yes, I saw the signal strength issue too in Zlauncher...

Solved both Zlauncher problems with the latest 5.42 beta from www.zztechs.com

Now I just have to figure out the datebk6 problem.

I use Town Compass Data Viewer for reference materials and it is not working. Resets the device every time I open it.

My list so far...

Working: BackupBuddyVFS v4.02, FileZ v6.8.3, MobileTS v1.5, Zap!2016, KB LightsOff v1.2.1, Warfare Inc v1.2, Mobile-stream Card Reader v1.04

NOT Working: PalmVNC v2.0.5 (semi functional, but many keys aren't working and causes random lockups), MMPlayer v2.01 (many Divx files play *far* better with version 1.1.3)

P.S. Any developers or end users out there that want something tested just gimmie a link...

Can you describe the problem? As a new model, the setup will produce a warning, but if you touch "Proceed" it will allow you to enable it normally. If that's the issue, give this a try and tell me if it works? I will be preparing a new release without the warning, if so.

It works after I "Proceed." I must have just panicked after seeing the warning.

What about Butler, treoguard 2day, 4cast, mRing and is there still a need for Volumecare? I don't have mine yet. i am hoping by the end of this week.

I had Volumecare on my 650. As of yet, I have not encountered a situation where it has been neede on the 680.

It is amazing that it is what the 650 should have been over a year ago!

Resco Locker (not sure it's even needed on the 680)
VolumeCare (680 volume out out of the box is more than loud enough

Chatopus (v2.12) has just been updated to support Treo 680.

Chatopus can run with screen off in Treo 680 now.
