Now the big question is, should those of us who had our phones updated in store apply this update? Even though it is the same version number, could there be a difference?

I don't think it'd be necessary to re-apply it if you had it successfully applied in the stores. Thanks for the tip, btw.

No problem! Glad I could help... I think it will be interesting to see if the people who apply the just officially released update have the same issues that those of us who got it in the store have been having...

Installing Via SD card... once the update was done, I had to do a *228 option 1 to bring it back to Verizon land, then *228 option 2 ...

Now I am reloading all my apps... I checked that the update made the version VZWO 1.10.

Could this be it, the ordeal finally over? I doubt so... I yet have to struggle with the DTMF and 1x-EVDO snafus but let's see, my pone is still under the 90 warranty days...

Keep us posted... The one issue that I have that seems to be lingering is the network connectivity problem....

Try copying off all the files that are on your current SD card and then copy them back after the update. Or, you could grab the Windows installer version of the update which I don't think requires an SD card but I could be wrong...

Did a hard reset and installed the update via the XP version. Everything went smoothly.

With nothing installed, the phone is still lagging and the thing that irritates me most of all has not changed - half the time I can't hot synch without resetting my 700p first.

Newest entry: I resync'd from my PC with Hotsync; for some reason my backed-up apps reloaded partially . I had to reinstall a few from scratch, i.e. SlingPlayer and Mundu but they did detect my previous settings and/or licenses so they are now happy in the Treo .

The only very noticeable problem is the "DTMF" sound that happens even when the switch is in the silent mode. Here's the what and how: The tone is not a DTMF tone (like the ones you hear when pressing buttons on the dial pad) but rather a Digital Chime that signals the re-connection to the Wireless network. And you CAN HEAR IT.

I have to disclose that so far is good, actually too good. The phone IS RESPONSIVE even on low-coverage areas.

BT pairing with my headset happened in the blink of an eye.

How long did it actually take to apply this update?

The update took me about 34 mins.. Im sure depending on the nifty speed of the memory card and how on top of it would make it vary.

I originally had that sound but for some reason, I don't have it anymore. Is there a reason why it would all of a sudden go away? I kinda liked it.

From what I've read on other threads, if you turn Systems sounds low or off, you won't hear the tone. Could that be why?
