Most essential apps & tweaks & why...
Since 4 mos have passed now I thought we should share what apps & tweaks we simply can't live without & why. You know the stuff you rush to re install & re tweak after a hard reset.
For me I run pretty lean
xcpu scalar, resco file explorer, sprite back up - for obvious reasons.
resco registry edit- to set scroll bars at 6 picels each
wei's soft reset (in start folder),- for easy soft resets
tcmp- for media
Birdsoft all in holdem- for fun
What about you?

Acrobat Reader - so I can read my "myfax" emails (cheaper and just as good as efax) and other pdf attachments. One of the major reasons I wanted WM5.
Card Export - to make your Treo a mass storage device
PDANet - to use Treo as external modem.

NYDITOT Virtual Display 5.02 - enables many 240x320 applications to run on the Treo 700w, and even try 480x480 resolution!
LogMeIn - remote desktop access to PCs over EVDO is sweet!
AgileMessenger 5.0 beta 5 - best multiplatform IM application to date
DinarSoft MemMaid - clean up your Storage Memory and tweak stuff
Kyuran PocketCDG - play CDG Karaoke files
PPCLink HiCalc - best calculator out there, supports 240x240
and many more...

My Top 6 List
eWallet (I don't know how I got along without it!)
Aces Texas Hold'em - Limit (just fun and passes time)
Repligo (converts any file to a viewable format .pdf, .xls, .doc, etc..)
Sprite Backup
SPB Pocket Plus (battery bar, today icons, task switcher)
Pocket Breeze (normal calendar just does not cut it, BTW I use Pcket Plus as a tab in Pocket Breeze, and tile tabs so noextra room taken on today screen)

What a great thread
- Sprite Backup,
- Resco Regedit,
- Dinar HandySwitcher - It closes applications when you click on the "x". I love it!
- Co-Pilot Live - GPS Navigation and it works GREAT!!!
- Sling Player Mobile - The single greatest invention EVER!!! Any chanel of TV or TIVO to your cell phone, are you kidding me!

sling mobile - freaking rocks (how can you beat Tivo'ing and DirecTV'ing from the can???)

Bigmatt..
Have you considered using/trying Teksoft's Speedbooster?
Instead of Overclocking the entire system/OS you can specifically give "higher priority" to the CPU for specific programs that require it. It just runs in the background and is only active when required.
I found it to be a more elegant and battery saving solution for those CPU hungry apps. Just throwing it out there...
Disclosure: I did beta test it for them, lol. Not that I get kickbacks or anything.

I run a very clean, minimalistic Treo 700wx.... I keep only what I consider the necessities, I can run fine with the preloaded WM Calendar/Inbox/Calculator/etc... Here's what I've added
A_C Slide2Unlock
PDANet
SPB Weather
Sprite Backup
Voice Command 1.6
SPB Phone Suite
Jogsoft PocketNES (For fun, to pass the time)
NetFront Browser
Wei's Softreset
Vito AudioNotes (To record some calls)
Opera Browser
PHM Registry Editor
Tillanosoft Smallmenu (A MUST HAVE!)
TCPMP Media player
TomTom Navigator 6 (I'm horrible with directions)
My biggest pet peeve is 1,000,001 applications on the today screen, I dont like scrolls bars or large icons.

Pocket Quicken
Slingmobile
Treo Alerts
Wisbar lite
Slide 2 Unlock
TCPMP
Live Search/Google Maps
MemMaid/SKTools
MagiKB lite
Threded SMS
Sprite Backup
Still looking for a good browser (IE is ok but I want something like iPhone has - I tried Picsel Browser but was extremely slow. Did anyone get it to work well??)
Has anyone got Slide2Unlock to play nice with treo? There are still a few bugs in the latest version that I can't stand (version 1.20: can't ignore calls, need to push red power button 2-3 times for screen to come on and can't really switch over when someone calls and you are on the other line).

I use Slide2Unlock with no problems? Its not fully featured like they advertise, the Caller ID within the program doesn't work, just disable it and continue to use the WM05 caller ID, but other than that it works great. It locks my phone when it suspends or I hit the end button to turn the screen off. I love it.
