yes it means AKU 2.6

After the upgrade, all my data are intact....no hard-reset was required.
cool might do it tonight

so it seems that the NBH [miniSD update] updates:
--
AKU to 2.6
Firmware Version to 1.12.0c.00
requires hard reset

The desktop updater updates:
--
AKU to 2.6
FW version to 1.12.0c.00
Software version to TREO750-1.16-VFE
does not require hard reset

Does the desktop version have complete directions included? I'd prefer to use this method instead of miniSD.

Does this update add HSDPA? Because the Palm unlocked version already has it on. So I'm just wondering if this is the HSDPA update people keep talking about.

The desktop updates installation is very very simple, only only to double-click on the installer and accept the agreement and the rest is automated. See the screenshot i my previous posts.

I'm doing the update now [at 49%] it's really very easy. Just plugin the AC charger and the sync cable. Double Click the exe, click agree and the update starts.

Ok, so the phone needs to be plugged in first BEFORE clicking. That's what I needed to know. Some phone updates tell you when to connect the phone. Thanks!

Try the good old SD way, is simpler and effective. (but your treo will be hard resetted)

The first of the two links.

Unpack the rar file. Take the file inside ( CHEEIMG_VM_Patch.nbh ) rename it as CHEEIMG.nbh.

Put this file in the root directory of the SD.

Insert the SD in the phone and press both the media key (the one below the volume rocker) and the reset button.

You will get the rainbow screen and then a grey screen, confirm with the red button and the update starts.

The SD must be formatted in fat32.

Unpacked the EXE, I see 2 NBH files:
CHEEIMG.NBH = 258Kb
CHEEIMG_FW.NBH = 14,111Kb
I also see the file where the update failed:
Vdfupdate_2.pks = 2,297Kb
--
So I should use both NBH files? What do I do with the pks file?

Ok here's what I did. I flashed the Cingular [10-21-2006] ROM via miniSD then, I used the 1.16 Automatic Updater, then I flashed with the Vodafone NL ROM via miniSD [02-15-2007]. Now I have the same About>Phone as hagenuk.

Does anyone know why the 750v update was pulled from the NL website? And doesn't seem to appear anywhere else?

It's back at http://rapidshare.com/files/17764237...eo_750v_NL.rar. It seems we still need it to get to AKU2.6 and software 1.16VFU.

So has anyone found any bug fixes with this release? AKU 2.6 doesnt seem to bring much to the table.

This is not the full upgrade

The file inside the full upgrade is called CHEEIMG_VM_Patch.nbh
and his size is 63,4 MB (66.485.949 byte)

@Solutor: we are talking about the Desktop updater right? The biggest NBH file I see after extracting the EXE is:
CHEEIMG_FW.nbh = 14,111Kb
--
The other ROMs I have show about the same size as you say.
Cingular [test ROM] 10-2006 = 65,580Kb
Vodafone 02-2007 = 64,928Kb

I don't think AKU 2.3 and 2.6 really has noticeable differences... according to mobile-review 2.3 to 2.6 has more under-the-hood changes. now if it were aku3.x then we would see a lot of changes. mobile-review aku's explained.

the installer does mention these [as seen in hagenuk's screenshot]:
  1. Better support for viewing RTF email
  2. Sound fixes
  3. Email tariffs

Yes I understand it.

But the point is that you can't get the same upgrade level with a rom image which is 1/4 in size of the SD version.

I think there's no way to get the AKU changed with the desktop installer.

I'm sorry, my english is poor, but I'm hope you can understand what I'm saying.
