Thanks for making this list. I posted in the "what do you want to know thread" about creating a MortScript that invokes Nyditot when running apps that are known to be incompatible with the 320x320 screen.

It sounds like someone has tried running Slingbox this way on the i780 and it works.

I haven't even had time to install all these apps, but is Sling isn't working, I'll not be happy on my travels this coming week.

AIM Messenger Beta looks awful. The text is readable but painful. It tries to stretch 240x240 to fit 320x320 and the results are not impressive.

I might survive for a little bit on opera mini but if opera mobile(9.5) didn't work when it came out of beta I would be really ****ed.

I've tried HTC Home forgot what version, it installs fine by doesn't show up on the today screen. Tried a soft reboot still nothing.
Quick Menu installs fine but some of the graphics is off. Icons are off, status (options to show battery % or bar, memory, etc in the top right corner of screen) graphics are off also, only guessing that it's not built for the 320x320 screen.

Big question will be, since there are not many cell phone companies who make devices with 320x320 screen; will most of developers update their apps to include 320x320 support? I am not sure about workaround you mentioned to make many apps to work. It might work little while but official support needs to be added to many apps otherwise this forums will cry and cry .

I really hope slingplayer and any other 240x240 app will be fixed to work well with this phone. I am not going to buy this phone if I have to deal with stretched instant messanger text, small slingbox video, and other issues. I really hope someone figures something out really quick. I think this is a huge issue no one thought about before the release....

I have a feeling that many developers won't. PDAMill, one of the largest game developers for the Pocket PC, has actively shunned the Treo's unique 240x240 screen (http://www.pdamill.com/ppc_arm.shtml), so it makes me wonder if they'd even support 320x320.

Has anyone tried any games, esp. those from Astraware? Do those apps run in 240x320?

Does Styletap show Palm OS applications at its full 320x320 resolution?

Default More software woes

Software having problems with 320x320:
Pocket Informant 8
SPB Pocket Plus-All versions
Most games will not work right
Expense Plus-All versions
Sirius
Pocket Bible (mostly functional) Version 3 and 4
Omega One Battery Pack Pro

Software that is working

Omega One 1-Calc
Evernote

I have already contacted the affected software developers and they are aware of the problems. Many might not decide to support this resolution or make costly changes as most WM 6.1 phones moving forward are either going to be VGA or QVGA resolution. We might be out of luck!

as I noted in a previous post...

Here's my current list (All expected to work good with 320x320):

TCPMP Divx Codec (Watch Divx Movies)
Palringo (IM Software)
Slingbox Mobile (DOESN't WORK... Hopefully patch/ or till 2.0)
TomTom Navigator 6
Tank Ace 1944
Machines At War 1.1
Tetris 2.0
Isotope244 Atomic Cannon
NES Emulator 1.9.1
Netfront
Warfare Incorporated 1.2
MMS = sMMS (look for it at ppcgeeks)
WiFi = peek pocket
Music = Pocket Tunes for WM (they already have 320x320 skins and Treo support)

And I hate to cross post but here is a ton more...

doubt that very, very much.

it is actually relatively easy to adjust their programs for 320x320 and could be done with a 0.1 update (minor). It's a standardized resolution within WM6 and they should support it as MS made it easy to do so.

Notice how most apps work with 240x240 today? same thing, same history.

We'll just have to take a few weeks to wait for developers to catch up and yeah, drop your favorite developer an email--don't assume they know.

Vacc...

PocketTunes should most definitely work...did you add the 320x320 free skin to enable it? You have to..

I'm going to nag the makers of Nyditot to get on the 800w case. If that app worked, so too would 99% of all WM apps.

Amen to that. Also it depends how much faith developers have in Palm for future Treos on window mobile. If Palm is going to release future treos with same screen size for near future; many developers may rush to update their applications. But the way Treo 800W is being released [people getting treos in their hands and Palm dont even have press release up yet] it is hard to see why developers even will try.

I hope for best but I have my doubts about Nyditot. If it is working I will buy Treo 800w in heartbeat.
