Default GSM Treo Pro: Cracks or no cracks? Please vote and post details!

Please no commnets on this thread!!! Just list the details like I have for your cracked TP. Let's see if we can figure this out.

Mine:
A) 4-5 cracks by left side button and one big one in top right corner. I use side buttons for a program at work
B) Bought at Palm.com on 9/23 and it was delivered 9/26.
C) I live in LAs Vegas, Nevada
D) No hard case. It is naked and never dropped
E) Serial number P4GU09N8H06N
Result: Palm CS sending new one on day 45

S/N P4GU09C8H1C3

Received Pro on 10/15
BodyGuardz Installed 3 or 4 days after received Pro.

No Cracks so far.

Side Note:
I don't remove battery cover as they suggest in the user manual.
I put my Pro between my hands (as if I was going to clap), and then push up.
The cover comes off rather easy this way.

Serial No. P4GU09C8H1F3.
Bought from Palm 10/20, received 10/23.
Using a silicone case from 10/25/08.
In Racine, WI
My battery cover comes off easily by the method in the manual.
No cracks to date.

PS: I realize the sample size is only 4, but I just noticed that the ones with cracks have N8H in the s/n and the ones without have C8H. anyone know how to interpret these numbers?

KJKRAMER,

I will delete this post because you didn't want comments.
But I just had to point out, so far '9C' doesn't have cracks, and '9N' does.

It might be a good idea to get as many MSN's as possible, cracked or uncracked, and see if it is just a certain batch? Comments are ok on this thread if they are constructive and relevant to finding out if there are any trends.... something our boys at Palm are obviously working hard at already... but, just in case

I know I am breaking my own rule here for this thread, but I thought people would be interested in knowing I got my New in the box TP today (on a holiday) a mere 24-28 hours after being told they would replace my 6 week old TP due to cracks. WOW!!! New serial number is P4GU09C8H0GV
I keep staring at it in the box and have not taken it out... I might wait a day or so. I am afraid to touch it. Seriosly. LOL. MAybe I will take it out of the white box and send mine back Saturday?? Is it odd to be afraid to touch it??

Looks like your S/N is similar to mine. I got mine today (Veteran's Day) as well, but I got "brand new"/1st. time purchase. I have not notice any cracks in D1, but will keep checking vigilantly.

The unit I returned because of defective GPS was

P4GU09M8H06V--it was preordered and arrived in late September and never had any cracks. Battery cover removed about 10 times.

Replacement unit received about a week ago (11/5) s/n P4GU09X8H0AR--interestingly this seems to be the only s/n on the thread with an X. This unit came directly from Palm--not the Palm store. No signs of cracking.

Tons of use on both units with no case other than a Invisible Shield which would provide little impact protection.
