It does since we are re-writing to the phone's radio firmware.

ok. i'm stuck. first couple of time i tried the ##diag piece, i didn't know what i was doing. By the third time I figured it out and got one download. Alas for me, when i added the port, there was just one, and it wasn't the phone.
now everytime I try, it disconnects my connection to the PC and I don't get prompted for a download.
How do I fix this, or get back to square one?

Start over... ensure you follow the directions step by step....
Just be careful... if you are not used to doing this type of stuff, you can destroy your phone...

Slightly OT, but related...Palandri brought this to my attention.
Hopefully this is something different, but it looks like the Pre may have a similar issue (unless this is just data/1x phenom)

I'm also receiving calls even though the phone is showing 1x... not so sure that has anything to do with the issue.
We need an update like palm/sprint had for the 700wx... something to tackle all these issues and make the phone almost perfect....
Be interesting to see if we see an update on the Pre before the pro. lol

hi guys. tried to install this hack and got stuck along the way. on the step of: You should be prompted for several (three) hardware installs. All three times point the installer to the location where you placed beezlewaxin's 800w Diagnostic Driver.
I pointed the windows hardware driver search to look into the folder that i had unzipped beezlewaxin's drivers in, but after the second prompt it's saying: the file "qcmdmxp.sys" on HTC USB Driver Disk is needed...type the path etc.etc...
that file isn't in the zip file as far as i can tell...what should i do?
thanks in advance.

Observations
I have noticed that if I have an active data session open, whether 1X or EVDO, all calls go straight to voicemail. If the the data session is open but not active, the icon is grey instead of white, then the calls come through. So, if push email is currently updating or weather panel is currently updating etc. my incoming calls go straight to voicemail. But if the data connection is open but not actively up/downloading calls come through fine.

For 1x, that is always the case.
For Ev, it is optional under the Settings --> Phone --> DDTM. By default, calls should interrupt a Ev data session.
My active Ev gets interrupted and allows calls to come through, even when using WMWiFiRouter.

That is good to know...
But it seems mine is intermittent. Although, I will admit I don't have the best testing area, it is a basement with very little coverage. Verizon sucks and the only phone *anyone* has known to allow a call to come through was my old Q9C. My BB would not receive a call there... nor would my 700...
In another area, I'm roaming at 1x, so not sure if that matters... lol....
Good thing is I've not had reports of people having my calls go to voicemail....

Well... I can say for sure that, after applying this 'fix', I missed a call and I was in EVDO at the time.
I now have a free Airave in my home and can make calls from my basement without having to have a line of site out of my window for the first time.... Hopefully this will take care of missed calls, at least in my home.
BTW, so long as you have data coverage, you will still use EVDO data coverage from the tower while being within Airave range...

Ahh... now I see what you are talking about...
1x cruising the internet, goes to voicemail all day long...
I don't cruise the net that much, so I'm good there... on my data, I disabled my email to only do manually...
Palm needs one good fix to make the phone almost "perfect."
With their attention on the Pre, it will be interesting to see if the Pro gets an update or not...

What causes the Treo Pro No Ringer issue?
The root cause of the Treo Pro No Ringer issue is related to a rare corruption of the Treo Pro’s registry key. This can lead to the smart phone not ringing and causing the user to miss an incoming call.
How does this software update work?
This update corrects the registry if it finds it is corrupted and helps prevent further registry corruption.

I installed... will see how this pans out later today while working at one of the buildings I was testing at earlier.
If this works, I'll more than likely order my Treo Pro extended battery and get ready to retire my other phones.

It works. I installed every beta of of SPB to see if it woudl screw up my ringers, as it had, and this fixes the problem.
You can see there are differences in the ringers system between the recalled Sprint 1.03 and Sprint 1.04 versions

What differences are those as no one has documented that yet and this update is for 1.04:

If you see a Software Version that is T850EWW-1.04-SPT you should install this update.
|
Edit: BTW this patch is NOT for the issue in this thread and needs to merged with this thread--please continue discussion there; Moderator has been notified about the merge.

You can see differences in the way the sound files are between 1.03 and 1.04, along with half a dozen fixes between 1.03 and 1.04. I don't want or need to to school you on it -- since you can call palm and ask them yourself why they will tell you sound files can be screwed up on 1.04 bur not 1.03 when you incorrectly speculate there are no differences other than 2 mb. That speculation on your part is incorrect.

That's an extremely vague non-answer Aero. It was a simple question to your assertion--I can't "see" any differences which is why I was asking you to explain them for the rest of us.
And I find it odd the one main difference between 1.03 and 1.04 (besides 2mb of memory) is that 1.04 causes a new bug but know one knows what these half dozen fixes actually fixed. If you knew this about the 1.04's breaking the ringer (but not 1.03) why didn't say anything before about it so we could have avoided much of this discussion?

Mal, have you tried asking Palm or Sprint ADS yourself? Aero has said repeatedly he got the scoop from Sprint. I've also posted a statement from someone else that was similar to Aero's.
With various fixes in 1.04, side effects are no surprise.
