its possible, but something that will take a long time to complete.. rooting is an easy way of changing things... you just have to know the commands..

there's a post around here somewhere that shows howto do it. its very easy.

It's possible for apps to modify the file system without the phone being rooted? I thought I saw that to use the "open" call you had to make sure your app a handler of the filetype, which seems like it would require root access to change.

If you could execute shell commands from within an app, then you'd be good (not sure if this has been done yet)

Default Red tint to the DialPad

I added red tinting to the numbers and a few other places. If anyone is interested here's the png's. Looks pretty spiffy with the gray background.

i made the green dialer skin into an ipk, to test if i could make an ipk that replaced files that were already there. in case anyone's interested: http://phwelo.mobi/ipks/Dialers/greendial.ipk
