Email Counter

Anybody played around with updating an icon in real time? I'd love to see something along the lines of the iphone setup (I know... the nerve!) where the email program icon shows the number of unread messages. The character counter patch for typing updates in realtime, but from what I can tell it does when pushed by a keyboard entry.

My coding skills are pretty much limited to html/php so this is way beyond me.

Does anyone know how to remove this patch if it does not remove with the preware remove functionality. I have tried several times to remove it but it keeps giving me an "error removing: see ipkg log". It keeps doing this no matter what for this patch. Can someone help??
