Default need help with messaging avatar

i have read and read and cant find much on it. i need step by step directions please. my messages show the little box where the pic should be. i dont know how to get the pic in there or dont know how to convert the pic i want into the correct format. any help would be great!

you can convert any pic to png just look for a pic converter online .
First converte ur pic to png after that you need to resize to 40x40.
when you have done this just connect ur pre to ur pc in usb mode and drop in the palm pre disk make sure to rename the pic eg: playing.png to my-avatar.png and listo

just get irfanview.com its free and simple, open image and then immediately save it as .png file.

i did it and dropped it into the phone. it is in the phones files when i open it via usb. now what?

is suppose to be .png extesion and resize to 40x40 right? if u did it just rename the pic to my-avatar.png thats all!

i changed the format, changed the name. i did not see anything about size? i dragged it to palm pre and it shows up in the folder when i plug phone in usb.

it can be any size as long as it's close to square... mine is like 800x800 or something.. the pre auto-resizes it to fit.
if its there, try rebooting and see if it shows up in the messenger...

what app are you using to resize? also make sure that 'maintain aspec ratio' is off....

ok, i drag it to the folder palm pre? or do i drag it to mms attachments? if i drag it to pre it will come up in the folder along with everything that is on my phone. what next?

yes, if your pre is in usb mode, drag to the drive and drop there. it will come up with everything else in there also. no additional folders needed. then reboot.

i checked my available patches and it was not listed. i tried to install it and got error message? i get several of those from preware.
