I can't tell you how upset I was that I can't sync my Pre with my computer. I bought Companionlink early on. It syncs via the web: Outlook-->Google-->Pre and vice versa and seems to work just fine. Why would using a USB cable be news or considered an "update"?! Sorry, I'm a rookie and confused. A USB sync would ensure that any infomation on either is transferred to the other.
